CP Shujau Urges Education for Police Progress

Commissioner of Police Ali Shujau stressed the importance of education and proactive engagement by law enforcement officers to enhance public trust and confidence.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the 36th Basic Police Training for new recruits, Commissioner Shujau highlighted the need for professionalism and continuous learning within the police force.
Commissioner Shujau stressed the importance of police officers placing a high priority on their education and professional growth for the police force to progress.
Emphasising the qualities expected from officers who have completed basic training, Commissioner Shujau underscored the significance of patriotism in the execution of their duties.
He urged officers to remain vigilant and proactive in addressing public concerns, stating that a strong police presence is essential to maintaining security and deterring criminal activities.
Shujau noted that there is a public demand for police presence at the harbours of all islands to discourage drug smuggling. He added that interrogating individuals suspected of illicit activities at the harbour could effectively decrease the influx of drugs into the islands.
Commissioner Shujau also called for increased police visibility on the streets during peak hours to ensure public safety. He urged officers to enforce the law impartially and to use force only as a last resort.
