CSC Formalises Establishment of Secretariat with Charter and MoU Signing
The Member States of the Colombo Security Conclave (CSC) have officially signed the Charter and Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the CSC Secretariat.
The signing ceremony, hosted by the Government of Sri Lanka in Colombo, was a significant development in regional security cooperation.
The CSC, which includes Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, the Maldives, and Mauritius, aims to bolster regional security by addressing transnational threats and shared challenges. The documents were signed by key officials: India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval K.C., Maldives’ Deputy Commissioner of Police (Retd.) Lieutenant Ibrahim Latheef, Mauritius’ High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Haymandoyal Dillum, and Sri Lanka’s National Security Adviser Sagala Ratnayake, representing their respective countries.
The CSC’s efforts will centre on five main areas: Maritime Safety and Security, Countering Terrorism and Radicalisation, Combating Trafficking and Transnational Organised Crime, Cybersecurity and Protection of Critical Infrastructure and Technology, and Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief.
This agreement marks a notable advancement in the CSC’s mission to improve regional security. The ceremony concluded with discussions on the forthcoming steps and future initiatives for the Conclave.
