Customs Seizes MVR 877,600 Worth of Smuggled Drugs

Maldives Customs has intercepted a shipment containing drugs valued at MVR 877,600 that were being smuggled into the country by air. 

The discovery was made during a detailed inspection of a consignment of common goods that arrived in the Maldives from Thailand on Saturday night.

Authorities found the drugs concealed in 20 packets within the shipment. Initial tests conducted on the substances indicated the presence of cannabis, with the total weight of the seized drugs recorded at 1,097 grams.

The confiscated items have been handed over to the Maldives Police Service, which is conducting further investigations into the case.
