In the statement, the NDMA disclosed that the destruction extended beyond structural losses, with household items and furniture alone accounting for more than MVR 300,000 in damages.

To mitigate the recurring issue of flooding caused by heavy rains, the NDMA has taken proactive measures by providing drainage pumps to five vulnerable islands. Furthermore, the authority has plans to distribute water pumps to an additional 13 islands in the forthcoming week.
While the inclement weather persists in the Maldives during this period, reports confirm that four islands have experienced flooding due to the heavy rains. NDMA highlighted islands including Lh. Naifaru, Sh. Goidhoo, AA. Feridhoo and B. Maalhos. Remarkably, despite the adverse conditions, no households have been evacuated, as confirmed by the NDMA.
In line with the situation, the Met Office has issued a weather forecast indicating the likelihood of heavy rains accompanied by strong winds in the central and southern regions of the country for the next two days.
