Deadline Extended for Japanese Scholarship Applications for Maldivian Students

MV+ News Desk | December 6, 2023

The deadline for applications for the Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS Scholarship) has been extended by three weeks, according to an announcement from the Higher Education Ministry.

Originally set to expire last Sunday, the deadline has now been extended until 4:00 pm on December 24. This extension provides additional time for eligible candidates to apply for the fully-funded Master’s Degree programs offered under this year’s JDS Scholarship program.

The scholarship encompasses all course-related expenses, travel, accommodation, and a return ticket. Launched in 2020, the JDS Scholarship Program has so far granted scholarships to 16 Maldivian students, with seven successfully completing their studies.

To qualify for this year’s program, applicants must be between the ages of 24 and 39 as of April 1, 2024. Additionally, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree recognized by the Maldivian government, be employed as a civil servant or a permanent staff member at an independent institution, court, or related organization. A minimum of two years of work experience and current full-time employment are also prerequisites.

Interested individuals can find further details on the eligibility criteria and application process on the Higher Education Ministry’s website.
