The second edition of Dhiraagu GudiFest this Ramadan is scheduled to take place on Friday evening at Dhiraagu Beach in Hulhumalé Phase 2, bringing children and families together to celebrate the traditional practice of kite flying.
The event will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with children of all ages invited to participate. Organisers said every participant will receive a complimentary kite as part of the celebration.
The festival is organised by Dhiraagu, which launched GudiFest in 2023 to encourage children to engage in the traditional Ramadan activity of flying kites during the evening hours.
The first GudiFest event of this Ramadan was held last Friday at Usfasgandu, drawing strong participation and public support, according to the company.
Dhiraagu said the kite-flying festival will continue to be held in different locations across the Maldives during Ramadan this year as part of efforts to promote community engagement and revive traditional cultural practices.
The company also hosts a range of public activities and promotional events during Ramadan, highlighting its broader initiatives to connect with communities while promoting Dhivehi culture and heritage.
