Dhivehi Language is the Key to Preserving Maldivian Identity, Says Muizzu

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu said yesterday that preserving the Dhivehi language is the key to preserving the Maldivian identity.
In his statement made on X, and the President’s Office’s website regarding International Mother Language Day, celebrated on February 21, President Muizzu said everything about the Maldivian identity is connected to the Dhivehi language.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of observing International Mother Language Day, with the theme “Silver Jubilee Celebration of International Mother Language Day.” The theme reflects a quarter-century of efforts to preserve linguistic diversity and encourage the use of mother languages worldwide.
