Distribution of Canned Tuna Cases for Malé Area to Begin Tonight: What You Need to Know

The government has revised the distribution schedule for canned tuna cases to households in the Greater Malé area ahead of Ramadan.
Initially planned to begin this afternoon, the distribution will now start at 8:30 pm tonight. The State Trading Organisation (STO) has been tasked with handling the distribution, which will continue until 27 February.
Each household will receive one case containing 48 cans of ‘chunks in oil’ tuna, with each can weighing 180 grams. The revised distribution schedule is as follows:
- 20 February: 8:30 pm – 11:00 pm
- 21 February: Closed
- 22 February: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, 8:30 pm – 11:00 pm
- 23 – 27 February: 2:30 pm – 6:00 pm, 8:30 pm – 11:00 pm
Distribution Points
Canned tuna cases will be available at the following locations:
- Malé: MIFCO Office Compound and Henveiru MTCC Sawmill
- Villimalé: WAMCO Site
- Hulhumalé Phase I: Umar Zahir Building
- Hulhumalé Phase II: Youth Centre at Hiyaa Flat Tower 10
STO has stated that only Maldivian citizens are eligible to collect the canned tuna cases. Recipients must provide their electricity meter number, ID card number, and phone number at the time of collection.
