The domestic terminal at Velana International Airport will be relocated today to the former international terminal starting today, Maldives Airports Company Limited has confirmed.

MACL stated that the old international terminal has been renovated to accommodate domestic operations. The company said the relocation is intended to ease passenger flow and enhance the travel experience for domestic passengers. Details regarding the future use of the current domestic terminal have not yet been announced.

Domestic flights in the Maldives are operated by Maldivian, Manta Air and Villa Air. The terminal serves a large number of Maldivians travelling between the capital and the atolls, as well as a significant number of tourists.

The new international terminal at VIA opened on 26 July last year and has the capacity to handle 7.5 million passengers annually.
