During the press conference yesterday, Habeeb conveyed that the current number of officials falls significantly short of their anticipated count. Consequently, the registration window has been extended until 1500 hrs on August 15th to accommodate additional recruits.
Habeeb affirmed that the Commission does not have any intentions to further extend this deadline.
Member of the ECM, Mohamad Zaahir, corroborated that the election process still requires more personnel, and efforts are underway to recruit additional officials. Owing to the scarcity of officials, certain adjustments may be made in certain locations. This might result in an increased presence of ballot boxes in specific countries where they are to be positioned.
Another member of the ECM, Mohammad Asif, outlined that 404 ballot boxes and 804 polling booths have been dispatched to the islands through postal services. Security boxes are set to be sent to the islands in September. Asif added that ballot boxes and polling booths intended for overseas locations will be dispatched within the same month.
Habeeb also acknowledged that disagreements among ECM members had been observed in the past. Nevertheless, he affirmed that any existing differences of opinion will not impede the election process.
