ECM Opens Applications for Second Round Observers and Monitors

The Election Commission of Maldives (ECM) has officially announced the commencement of the application process for individuals interested in observing and monitoring the upcoming second round of the 2023 presidential election.

Starting from today, the 14th of this month, prospective observers, monitors, and candidates’ representatives can submit their applications, which will be accepted until Tuesday, the 17th of this month.
Notably, those who have already served in these roles during the first round of the election will not need to reapply if they intend to participate in the second round.
To be eligible for the role of observer or monitor, individuals must be over the age of 18 and must not be serving a sentence for a criminal offence.
The second round of voting is scheduled to take place on the 30th of September.
