ECM Prints 285,631 Ballot Papers for Election’s Second Round

The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has confirmed the printing of 285,631 ballot papers for the second round of the Presidential Election set to take place on the coming Saturday.
Each eligible voter is entitled to receive one ballot paper, which will feature the names of the two candidates competing in this round of the presidential election.
A total of 282,804 eligible voters will participate in the second round, with an additional 409 new voters gaining eligibility for this phase of the election. Notably, this marks an increase of 412 ballots compared to the initial round, during which 285,219 ballot papers were printed.
In accordance with legal requirements, each ballot box will be provisioned with 1 percent more ballot papers than the number of registered voters. ECM is set to commence the distribution of the list of registered voters and ballot papers to the islands on the 27th of this month.
The second round of the presidential election will be contested by the PNC presidential candidate Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the incumbent President and MDP presidential candidate Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
