The Election Commission of Maldives (ECM) has reported a strong response to its recruitment drive for staff to oversee the local council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections scheduled for next April.
The commission began conducting walk-in interviews on Friday, with more than 170 candidates attending over two days. Interviews were held at Kalaafaanu School in Malé on Friday and Kaamil Didi Primary School in Hulhumalé on Saturday. The sessions are scheduled to continue until 22:00 on Saturday evening.
According to the ECM, more than 100 candidates attended the session in Malé, while over 70 turned up in Hulhumalé. A significant number of applicants were between the ages of 18 and 25, with the highest interest recorded for officer and senior officer roles.
The recruitment process covers a wide range of positions, including officers, senior officers, trainees, logistics staff, media and communications specialists, IT and finance officers, and support staff such as drivers, cleaners, and maintenance workers. Applicants are required to bring their national identity cards, educational certificates, and CVs when attending the interviews.
The ECM noted that staff are recruited for every election to ensure the smooth functioning of electoral operations.
