ECM Reveals Final List of Eligible Voters for Presidential Election

The Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has published the official voters’ today, list comprising 282,395 eligible voters for the forthcoming presidential election, which is available in both the Government Gazette and on their official website.

For those seeking information about their designated polling station and area, a dedicated portal on the ECM website is available for reference. Alternatively, this information can be obtained by sending an SMS with the message “VR [space] IDNO” to the number 1414.

With just 20 days remaining until the presidential election, the ECM is finalising preparations for the upcoming event. Among its critical tasks ahead of the election, one of the foremost priorities is to verify the accuracy of the voter list.  

Following thorough scrutiny and subsequent re-registration procedures, the definitive list has been unveiled, encompassing 282,395 eligible voters. Additionally, over 27,000 new voters have been determined as eligible participants in the election.

A total of 574 polling stations will be established. Notably, 176 ballot boxes will be situated within the Greater Male’ area. Furthermore, eight ballot boxes are set to be deployed across five foreign countries.
