The Ministry of Education has issued a directive mandating that all government agencies seek prior approval for any activities involving school children.

In a circular signed by State Minister Ahmed Mohamed and distributed to all government agencies, city and local councils, clubs, and associations on Sunday, the ministry stated that these activities must align with the academic calendar to ensure that learning is not disrupted.

The circular specifies that activities involving students should be included in the official school activity calendar, and government agencies planning collaborations with schools must obtain the ministry’s approval before the academic year begins.

“Schools should only be contacted regarding such activities after obtaining permission from the Ministry,” the circular read.

The directive follows concerns that some agencies have conducted activities and competitions involving schools without consulting the ministry or aligning with the schools’ activity schedules. These unplanned activities, the ministry warned, could negatively affect students’ learning, teachers’ schedules, and the mental and physical well-being of children.

Furthermore, the ministry noted that such uncoordinated activities lead to the disruption of pre-scheduled school events and impose financial burdens on both schools and parents. As a response, all government agencies have been urged to coordinate with the Ministry of Education beforehand to avoid unnecessary interruptions.
