Education Ministry Sets Deadline for School Transfers Ahead of Academic Year

The Ministry of Education has announced that students transferring from one island to another for the upcoming academic year are required to complete their school transfers as soon as possible.
The deadline for the transfer process is set for 6th March 2025 at 2:00 pm. A form for the transfer can be accessed through the Ministry’s official website at https://www.moe.gov.mv/dv/downloads?t=forms.

In addition, the Ministry has recently published a tentative academic calendar for 2025, which includes an adjustment to the annual school holiday period, now set to begin on 28th December. This change follows a shift made in 2021, when school holidays were moved to coincide with the Maldives’ wet season, a decision that led to travel difficulties for students, families, and teachers.
According to the tentative calendar for 2025, the academic year will begin on 6th April, with teachers expected to report to school on 3rd April. The first term holiday will run from 28th July to 7th August, while the second term will commence on 10th August. A mid-break for the second term is scheduled from 21st to 25th September.
