Environment Ministry Issues Hakathari Labels for New Appliance Models
The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment, and Energy has officially issued Hakathari Labels for 15 models of refrigerators and an additional 4 models of air conditioners to the State Trading Organization. This move is part of the ongoing Hakathari program, which aims to enforce energy efficiency standards for electrical appliances entering the Maldivian market.
The Hakathari initiative not only ensures compliance with energy efficiency standards but also empowers consumers to easily identify the energy efficiency levels of various appliances. The program covers a range of electrical appliances, including air conditioners, refrigerators, and washing machines.
To date, a total of 14 air conditioner models and 15 refrigerator models have been registered under the Hakathari Program. Air conditioners registered through this initiative have received energy efficiency ratings ranging from 4 to 5 stars, while refrigerators have earned energy efficiency ratings between 3 and 4 stars.
