The Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy has initiated a study aimed at evaluating the power supply infrastructure in Vilimale’.
The undertaking is part of an agreement formalised between the Ministry of Environment and STELCO in December 2023.
The agreement outlines the key objectives of the study, which include identifying the challenges associated with meeting the escalating demand for electricity services in Vilimale’. The examination will delve into existing system issues and propose necessary interventions.
A detailed action plan is set to be formulated and presented to the ministry, addressing projections of demand for the next two decades, strategies to augment system capacity, required investments for repairs and capacity expansions, and a project plan for system enhancement.
Moreover, the study will encompass information regarding Vilimale’s land use plan, with relevant data provided through the concerned Ministry. The disclosure of government policies pertaining to the development of the energy, water, and sanitation sectors, along with collaboration with various government agencies, will be part of the process.
The project and action plan, prepared in accordance with the agreement, will be submitted to the Economic Council for endorsement.
