Ex-Chief Commissioner of Maldives Scouts Receives Asia-Pacific Award for Distinguished Service

Ahmed Ali Maniku, former Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association of Maldives, has been awarded the Asia-Pacific Region Award for Distinguished Service to International Scouting.
The honour was presented at the closing ceremony of the 28th Asia-Pacific Scout Conference, held from 12 to 17 October 2025 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
The award is the highest recognition for Scout leaders in the Asia-Pacific Region, celebrating individuals who have delivered exceptional service to Scouting at both regional and international levels.
Maniku has devoted more than 30 years to the Scouting movement, holding key leadership positions in the Scout Association of Maldives, including Chief Commissioner and member of the National Council. During his tenure, the Association achieved significant milestones, including receiving the Green Leaf Award for the contributions of Maldivian Scouts to environmental conservation. In recognition of his service, he also received the nation’s highest Scouting honour, the Silver Tuna Award.
Beyond the Maldives, Maniku has played an influential role in the Asia-Pacific Region, serving on the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee and as Vice Chair of its management sub-committee. He has also been an active member of the Regional Awards Committee, helping to shape Scouting policies and initiatives across the region.
On behalf of the Scout movement in the Maldives, officials expressed pride and gratitude for Maniku’s long-standing dedication and continued service to both national and international Scouting.
