Expat Worker Injured in Thilafushi Truck Accident Under Treatment at IGMH

An expatriate worker who was seriously injured after being run over by a truck in K. Thilafushi on Thursday is receiving treatment at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The incident occurred at around 2:15 pm on the industrial island. Police confirmed that the injured individual, a 53-year-old Sri Lankan man, had been working near an excavator when he was struck by a truck. He fell as a result of the impact and was subsequently run over.

He was taken to Malé for emergency care and admitted to IGMH. The hospital has confirmed that he is being treated in a ward but did not disclose details of his condition.

Police have taken the driver of the truck, a 28-year-old Indian national identified as Vignesh Annadurai, into custody. The vehicle involved in the accident was also seized.
