Expired IVs Used on Children Spark Investigation at Gadhdhoo Health Centre
The Health Ministry and Human Rights Commission of Maldives (HRCM) are currently conducting an investigation into the utilisation of expired Intravenous Solutions (IVs) at the Gadhdhoo Health Centre in the GDh atoll.
MoH is reviewing the incident of expired IV fluids at Gahdhoo Health center, The staff involved are asked to stay at home pending further investigation of this matter. Preventive and corrective actions will be taken accordingly.

The incident has raised concerns over patient safety and proper medical protocol.
The recipients of the expired IVs were identified as four children.
A video that has gained traction on various social media platforms depicts residents of Gadhdhoo congregating at the Gadhdhoo Health Centre. The footage captures their collective dissatisfaction, while law enforcement personnel are seen intervening to maintain order.
The HRCM has expressed deep apprehension regarding this incident, particularly due to its potential impact on the health and safety of children.
In light of this concern, the HRCM has issued a call to action directed at the Ministry of Health and other relevant authorities.
The ongoing investigation has led to the suspension of four employees linked to the administration of the expired IVs.
