The Ministry of Social and Family Development, in collaboration with the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), hosted the ‘Family Carnival’ yesterday at Hiyaa Park in Hulhumalé Phase 2 as part of this year’s National Children’s Day celebrations.
Held on Saturday, 10 May 2025, the event created a lively and family-friendly environment, drawing families from across the area. Running from 4pm to 6pm, the festival offered a variety of engaging activities designed to reflect popular interests among children. These included interactive sessions with Roboman, foam parties, bouncing castles, horse rides, bull bash, obi’s shooting, a bubble house, and the ‘wake a mole’ game.
Children attending the festival received gifts, and well-known characters such as the Transformers, along with other mascots, joined the event to distribute presents and enhance the festive atmosphere.
As part of the extended programme, an outdoor film screening dedicated to children and families was held later in the evening at Hulhumalé Phase 2 Park. Organised in collaboration with Ooredoo Maldives and the Ministry, the screening began at 8pm and marked the conclusion of the day’s celebrations.
On the occasion of Children’s Day, Minister of Social and Family Development Dr Aishath Shiham also delivered a message emphasising the critical role of strong family relationships and meaningful time spent with children in shaping their futures.
This year’s Children’s Day theme, ‘Happy relationships, Happy times, Happy children’, underscores two key elements of child development: the quality of parent-child relationships and the joyful experiences they share.
Dr Shiham highlighted that the time, love, care, and attention given by parents are central to the formation of a child’s character. She added that when children grow up in nurturing environments filled with love and support, they are more likely to develop self-confidence, emotional maturity, and a positive outlook on life.
