The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) has said it is prioritising an investigation into unusually high water bills reported by residents of several Amaan Udhares towers in Hulhumalé Phase II. The issue emerged after multiple residents said they had received bills exceeding MVR 7,000 for the previous month.
FDC said it began working with the relevant authorities as soon as the matter was raised, with efforts now focused on identifying the cause and resolving the problem. The corporation encouraged affected residents to submit details of their billing concerns through the FDC tenant portal or via email.
According to Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) Managing Director Abdul Matheen Mohamed, the bills are currently payable by FDC because the water meters remain registered under the corporation’s name.
FDC said meter readings for water and electricity are photographed at the time the keys are handed over, allowing for accurate assessment of usage prior to residents moving in. The official said MWSC teams are scheduled to visit the towers on Wednesday morning to investigate the issue and work on a solution.
The official added that the information of flat recipients has already been shared with MWSC, and that there are no remaining obstacles to transferring the meters to the names of the flat owners.
