A joint delegation from the Indian Exim Bank, the Indian High Commission, and the Ministry of Fisheries conducted a site visit to the Felivaru Upgrading Project yesterday, engaging in discussions with senior management from the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) and Indian contractor Rinac.

The project, valued at USD 23 million, has come under scrutiny following nearly 700 complaints lodged with the government since July.

During the visit, the delegation focused on reviewing the progress of Component A, which the Indian Exim Bank finances. Officials from the Indian delegation expressed their commitment to addressing concerns raised by the local community, assuring that steps would be taken to meet the project’s timelines and standards.

The visit highlights the ongoing collaboration between India and the Maldives in strengthening local infrastructure and promoting sustainable fisheries development.
