The Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation, Ahmed Najah, has confirmed that construction of the new Central Power Station in Addu City will commence after the month of Ramadan.

The project has been contracted to Dubai-based Definitive Solutions and is expected to be completed by July next year. Speaking on a PSM News programme last night, Najah said the power station will provide a long-term solution to the city’s electricity challenges.

“The company assigned to carry out the project assures us that construction will begin on the ground by the end of Ramadan,” he said.

Fenaka Corporation added that the new power station will be powered by engines from Anglo-Belgian Corporation (ABC), a Belgian manufacturer, and will have a generation capacity of 26.37 megawatts, sufficient to meet Addu City’s growing energy demands.

Najah emphasised that once completed, the project will permanently resolve the electricity issues that have affected the city for years, marking a significant step in improving infrastructure and energy reliability in the southern atoll.
