Fenaka Corporation has contracted Definitive Solutions to complete the Central Power Station (CPS) project in Addu City as part of efforts to improve electricity services in the city.
Under the contract, the company will complete outstanding works on the project, including the installation and commissioning of the power generation engines, said Fenaka.
The project to establish the central powerhouse was initially awarded to the Chinese company Dongfang Electric Corporation, according to the company. However, the contract was later terminated after the project failed to progress in line with the original agreement.

Fenaka’s Managing Director, Mohamed Najah, and the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Definitive Solutions, Abdulla Saeed, signed the contract to carry out the remaining work required to establish the power station.
The new facility will operate using engines manufactured by Anglo Belgian Corporation. According to Fenaka, these European-built engines are modern low-speed units, representing a significant upgrade from the high-speed engines currently used in Addu’s power generation system.
Although the company has shared the details of the project, they didn’t share the price for which the project was awarded to Definitive Solutions.
The Addu Central Power Station is expected to have a total generating capacity of 26.37 megawatts once completed.
The company said Fenaka aims to complete the project by the end of next year.
Najah said completing the power station would provide a permanent solution to the long-standing electricity issues faced by residents of Addu City.
