The project forms part of broader housing and infrastructure development plans for Kolhufushi. During a visit to the island in September, President Mohamed Muizzu said the government was working to complete utility services for the 100 housing units already built, noting that the work had been assigned to Fenaka.

At the same visit, the president also announced plans to construct an additional 100 housing units in Kolhufushi next year, with funding to be included in the national budget. He said the new project would provide opportunities for residents who wish to build homes on their own land.

The president further stated that the existing 100 housing units are expected to be handed over by the end of this year, alongside the completion of key utility services, including water and sewerage connections.
