Police has stated that a fire broke out on an oil tanker off the coast of Hulhumale’ yesterday, injuring one person.

The incident occurred around 13:00 hours, with social media footage showing thick black smoke rising from a vehicle in the first phase of Hulhumale’.
Firefighters from the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue’s Hulhumale’ Station responded to the scene and successfully extinguished the blaze.
Police reported that a Bangladeshi man on board the tanker sustained burns to his arms and is receiving treatment at Hulhumale’ Hospital.
Authorities confirmed that the fire has been extinguished and that the incident is currently under investigation.
