First Lady Highlights Education’s Role in Nation-Building at Clique College Silver Jubilee

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed said that nation-building is founded upon empowering citizens with the intellect and skills required to safeguard their own wellbeing.

She made the statement in her address at a ceremony held this evening at Maagiri Hotel to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of Clique College.

At the function, the First Lady presented the Clique College Scholarship, valued at MVR 100,000, to the recipient. Long service awards were also presented to staff members.

She stated that the education system develops students in the areas of health, innovative thought, skills, and aptitude, with the aim of enhancing their capacity for critical thought and effective action. She further emphasised that the system provides instruction in innovation, business, and politics, equipping students to contribute to the nation’s future.

She also emphasised the importance of nurturing a generation of disciplined, resilient, and responsible citizens to secure a prosperous and harmonious future. She noted that such a generation would drive national productivity and progress, while ensuring peace and protection in every sense. Commending the consistent incorporation of these principles in both public and private education, she noted that the programmes offered at Clique College are capable of cultivating such students.

She acknowledged the contributions of individuals in advancing education in the Maldives, emphasising that nation-building is the responsibility of all citizens.

In conclusion, she expressed hope that the new generation would value the Dhivehi language and Maldivian culture, while promoting innovation, with integrity.

The event was attended by senior officials from the college, as well as several Cabinet Ministers.
