First Lady Opens Disability Management and Rehabilitation Centre in Hulhumale

First Lady Fazna Ahmed inaugurated the Disability Management and Rehabilitation Center in Hulhumale today.

The opening ceremony of the center took place this morning on the first floor of the Orange Hiyaa Building in Hulhumale.

During her address at the ceremony, the First Lady highlighted the importance of the Disability Management and Rehabilitation Center in enhancing the services offered by Hulhumale Hospital. 

She stressed the significance of environmentally friendly planning when catering to the needs of individuals with disabilities. 

Additionally, she emphasised the collective responsibility of the entire community in ensuring easy accessibility for persons with disabilities to various locations and service facilities. 

The First Lady highlighted the need to disseminate information effectively, making it accessible to all, recognising that individuals with disabilities are an integral part of society.

Furthermore, the First Lady commended the government’s efforts in improving the quality of life for people with disabilities. 

She stated that these efforts include increased financial assistance, free access to therapeutic treatments, and the establishment of additional centers dedicated to their care. The government has also facilitated opportunities for individuals with disabilities to excel in sports, with notable achievements on the international stage.

The newly inaugurated Disability Management and Rehabilitation Centre will operate under the Hulhumale Hospital and will be staffed by seven physiotherapists. The center is geared towards providing rehabilitation treatments for individuals recovering from various life-altering events such as accidents or strokes. 

The center’s operational hours are from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm daily, excluding Fridays and public holidays. The government has arranged RTL bus services to transport individuals to and from the center, further enhancing its accessibility.
