Addressing attendees at the event, the First Lady stressed the government’s responsibility to safeguard children and create a secure environment for their growth. She described the national plan as a pivotal step in this effort, enabling institutions to better focus on child protection.
In her speech, First Lady Sajidha highlighted that the National Action Plan on the Prevention and Response to Child Violence goes beyond a simple policy framework. She characterised it as a roadmap aimed at preventing child abuse, safeguarding children, and responding effectively to incidents of violence.
The ultimate goal, she noted, is to ensure that every child can grow up in safety, free from violence, and develop into a responsible and resilient individual.
The First Lady also referred to the launch as the beginning of a critical journey towards empowering children to thrive in a secure and nurturing environment. She emphasised the importance of collective responsibility in this mission, noting that protecting children from abuse requires the collaboration of all sectors of society.
While recognising that words alone are not enough, she underscored that safeguarding children is a shared duty that demands action from everyone.
