Fishing Competition Announced to Mark 45th National Fishermen’s Day

The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources has opened applications for a fishing competition organised as part of celebrations marking the 45th National Fishermen’s Day.
This year’s event will feature a reef fish competition scheduled to take place in Raa Atoll Dhuvaafaru on 12 December 2025. According to the ministry, the competition is open to participants from across Raa Atoll.

Prizes will be awarded to those who catch the most fish, with MVR 15,000 for first place, MVR 10,000 for second place, and MVR 7,000 for third. An additional prize of MVR 1,500 will be given for the heaviest fish caught.
The ministry has invited interested participants to submit their applications using the form attached to the gazette announcement. Completed forms must be submitted to the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources by 2 p.m. on 20 November.
