Fitr Portal Introduced to Facilitate Cash Payment of Fitr Zakat Ahead of Ramadan

In preparation for the upcoming month of Ramadan, Maldives Zakat House has introduced the Fitr Portal to facilitate the collection of Fitr Zakat in cash.

Maldives Zakat House stated that the initiative aims to accommodate Zakat payers who are not accustomed to making online payments.

According to the institution, the introduction of the Fitr Portal seeks to further strengthen and systematise the mechanism for accepting Fitr Zakat payments in cash through local councils and the Zakat House.

Maldives Zakat House stated that the Fitr Portal will enable the institution to monitor cash collections in real time. Through the system, the Zakat House will be able to obtain accurate daily figures of the total Fitr Zakat collected through both online payment platforms and cash transactions.

The availability of consolidated, real-time data will support the timely and equitable distribution of Fitr Zakat to eligible beneficiaries across the islands at the end of Ramadan, in accordance with Shari’ah, the institution stated.
