The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has awarded Fiya Foundation the contract to develop a new mosque in Vilimalé, on the site currently occupied by Masjid Al-Salaam.
The agreement was signed during President Mohamed Muizzu’s meeting with Vilimalé residents on 23 November. Mohamed Visham, an executive committee member of the foundation, signed on behalf of Fiya Foundation, while Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed signed on behalf of the ministry.
According to the minister, the project includes the construction of a two-storey mosque with space for 850 worshippers. The development will also feature two classrooms and an office area.
He added that the agreement forms part of a wider plan to redevelop older mosques in the Malé area and construct new facilities with greater capacity and modern amenities.
