The government has instructed residents of flats under its management to remove items from corridors and common areas that may inconvenience the public.

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) stated that bicycles, furniture, shoe racks and other personal belongings have been found stored in corridors, a practice that is prohibited. Residents have been given two days to clear such items, with HDC warning that any remaining belongings will be removed by the company.

HDC said it has received complaints from members of the public regarding items being kept in shared spaces. The company added that storing belongings in corridors and common areas hampers maintenance, affects cleanliness, and poses safety and security risks.

The announcement reminded residents that storing items in these areas is against the policy on the use of common areas and facilities. HDC directed that all prohibited items be cleared within the stipulated time, noting that the company will not be liable for any damage or loss during removal.
