Foreign Minister Meets US Ambassador To Convey Government’s Gratitude

Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel has expressed the Government’s appreciation to United States Ambassador Hugo Yon, recognising his leadership and significant contributions to advancing Maldives–US relations during his tenure.
The Minister met Ambassador Yon at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he conveyed the Government’s gratitude for the Ambassador’s work over the past two years. He noted that Ambassador Yon had played an important role in strengthening cooperation between the two countries and highlighted his impact as the first resident US Ambassador to the Maldives, which helped expand dialogue and deepen engagement.
Ambassador Yon expressed his appreciation for the hospitality and support extended to him by the Government and the Maldivian people. He reaffirmed the United States’ commitment to maintaining and further developing the strong partnership between the two nations.
Dr Khaleel also commended Ambassador Yon’s professionalism and the positive relationship he maintained throughout his service. He said he was confident that Maldives–US relations would continue to grow under the Ambassador’s successor. He extended his best wishes to Ambassador Yon in his future endeavours and assured full cooperation to the incoming envoy.
Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sheryna Abdul Samad, Secretary Dr Hala Hameed, Senior Political Director Ahmed Haanee Naeem, and Assistant Director Aminath Warudha attended the meeting.
