Nepalese National Dies After Diving Incident in Vilimalé Lagoon

A 22-year-old Nepalese man has died following a diving incident in the Vilimalé lagoon early Tuesday morning, police said.

According to authorities, a report was received at approximately 06:30 a.m. yesterday, regarding a diver who had gone missing in the area. A joint search operation by Vilimalé Police and Marine Police led to the discovery of the individual submerged underwater at around 06:55 a.m.

He was immediately taken to Vilimalé Hospital for emergency treatment but was pronounced dead shortly after, according to the police. 

Further investigation into the incident is ongoing, the police said.
