Four Island Council By-Elections Scheduled for Next Month

The Election Commission of the Maldives (ECM) has announced upcoming by-elections for four Island councils scheduled to take place next month.

In an official statement by ECM, the by-elections will appoint a female member to the HA. Kelaa council and elect members to the ADh. Hangnaameedhoo and N. Maafaru councils.

Additionally, another by-election will be conducted to elect the Th. Guraidhoo council president.

Vice-Chairman of ECM, Ismail Habeeb, outlined that the voting is scheduled to occur on Saturday, starting at 8:00 am and concluding at 4:00 pm on December 16. 

The official results will then be disclosed on Monday, December 18.

ECM has opened the platform for potential candidates to participate in these by-elections. Aspiring candidates have until Thursday, November 16, at 2:00 pm to submit their applications for consideration.
