The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has confirmed that water in Fuvahmulah City is now safe for use following a recent contamination incident.
The agency stated that water samples collected from multiple areas of the city, after remedial measures were implemented, met the drinking water standards set by the World Health Organization.

The contamination occurred in the municipal water supplied by FENAKA Corporation’s Fuvahmulah Branch, prompting the city’s water network to be shut down on Monday. Supply was restored three days later.
The Fuvahmulah City Council reported that the Mayor and Council members had visited the water plant and held discussions with FENAKA officials regarding safety precautions. They stressed that water should only be released for public use once test results confirmed its safety.

Despite the MFDA’s assurance, some residents have continued to raise concerns on social media, sharing photos and reporting changes in the taste and colour of the water.
