President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the Giraavaru Falhu land reclamation project is progressing steadily and is expected to conclude in April, with the handover of surveyed land plots scheduled to begin in June.
The President shared the update on Saturday via his official X account, as part of ongoing efforts to inform the public on key government initiatives. He first announced the launch of the reclamation project on 30 January, and later stated on 13 February that work was being accelerated with two dredgers operating simultaneously.
Speaking at the ‘Rayyithunnaa Eku Kuriah – Hafthaa 104’ function held at the Maldives Centre for Social Education to mark the administration’s two-year anniversary, the President outlined the government’s housing policy. He reaffirmed the commitment to allocating fully reclaimed land plots to citizens.
