The President’s Office has announced that government offices will close during the final ten days of Ramadan, beginning 9 March, in accordance with a presidential directive.
The directive, issued on February 4, 2024, designates the last ten days of Ramadan each year, starting from 1445 AH, as official government holidays. The decision aims to uphold Islamic principles, encourage appreciation of Islamic values, and prioritise acts of worship during the final days of the holy month.
The directive also instructs government authorities to ensure that essential services continue without disruption and to clearly communicate operating hours to the public during this period.
The 2026 academic calendar is structured so that students will attend classes only during the first week of Ramadan. Following this week, no classes will be held as the next week is reserved for teachers’ Professional Development Week. From Monday, 9 March, government-declared public holidays will begin in line with the presidential directive.
