The government has decided to award a contract to a private benefactor for the construction of an ultra-modern mosque in Villimalé, according to the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.
The planned mosque will be developed on the site of the existing mosque in Villimalé, which is set to be replaced as part of broader efforts to improve religious infrastructure. The project is expected to be completed within two years.
The new facility will be fully equipped with classrooms, reflecting a focus on providing additional educational resources alongside religious services.
The government has stated that the development and renovation of mosques across the country remains a key priority.
