The government has confirmed that an agreement to develop a resort in the lagoon of Baa Atoll’s Goidhoo will be signed within this month.

The announcement was made during President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s ongoing visit to the islands of Baa Atoll. The resort development is a key presidential pledge, and preparations to implement the project are reportedly well underway. Officials have announced the project, recruited personnel, and awarded the necessary bids ahead of the signing.

President Muizzu also noted that physical work is progressing on several other development projects across the atoll. Plans to expand the local harbour to accommodate seaplanes are scheduled to commence next year.

Efforts are also underway to enhance educational facilities on the island, with expansion of the local school set to begin early next year. The upgrade, aimed at increasing capacity and improving infrastructure, has been assigned to FENAKA Corporation.

In addition, the President confirmed that construction of a new health centre and a football stadium will begin later this year. These initiatives form part of broader efforts to strengthen essential services and recreational facilities in the region.
