President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced that his administration aims to sign contracts for 800 development projects this year, expressing confidence in delivering on all government pledges.
The announcement was made during the inauguration of M. Muli Airport yesterday, where the president outlined the government’s progress and future plans for national development.
According to President Muizzu, several development projects had stalled prior to his assumption of office in 2023. He said that many of these initiatives are now ready to resume, with contracts already signed for 390 projects through state-owned enterprises across the Maldives in 2025.
The president also noted that additional contracts covering around 300 projects are expected to be signed within the next two to three weeks. These will include agreements with private contractors, bringing the total number of contracted projects to between 700 and 800 over a four- to five-month period beginning in February.
President Muizzu emphasised that these projects have been carefully planned to ensure smooth implementation and timely completion. He stated that regular weekly meetings with his cabinet are held to monitor progress and expedite execution.
He further affirmed that the government remains committed to ensuring inclusive development, reiterating that no citizen or island would be left behind in the provision of public services.
The president concluded by stating that the results of these efforts are expected to become visible by next year.
