Minister of Finance Moosa Zameer has announced a planned salary increase for civil service employees in the upcoming fiscal year, as part of the state budget proposal presented to parliament.
The proposed budget, amounting to USD 3.7 billion, seeks to improve compensation within the public sector. Minister Zameer stated that the budget earmarks USD 32.6 million to standardise salaries across civil service and judiciary positions. This initiative aligns with the government’s commitment to ensuring equitable compensation across key public service sectors.
In addition to the adjustments for civil service and judiciary employees, the Minister noted that salary adjustments for other public sector roles are scheduled for implementation in 2026. This staged approach aims to improve wage structures throughout the civil service.
These measures underscore the government’s focus on promoting fairness and motivation within the public workforce, with the ultimate goal of enhancing the quality of public services.
