The government has begun collecting security deposits for completed residential flats under the ‘Gedhoruveriyaa’ housing scheme, marking a key step towards the handover of 4,000 new flats in Hulhumalé.
The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC), which is managing the scheme, has activated its online portal to facilitate payments. Beneficiaries who have finalised their housing agreements are being contacted to complete the deposit process. The current phase focuses on units where construction has been fully completed, with FDC emphasising that the deposit procedure is designed to be as accessible and efficient as the agreement signing stage.
Latest figures from the corporation show that agreements have been scheduled with 3,088 beneficiaries, of which 3,032 have already been signed. FDC aims to finalise all 4,000 agreements by the end of September, reflecting the scale and urgency of the project.
The eventual handover of apartment keys is dependent on three requirements: the signing of agreements, registration of the flats for utility services, and the payment of the required security deposits.
