The council clarified the division of responsibilities within the operation. According to their statement, the police are responsible for deciding which vehicles are to be towed, while the council’s role is to assist in the process. Once vehicles are removed, the police will notify the owners in line with local regulations.
This latest initiative follows a similar programme conducted in February by the Ministry of Transport in collaboration with the city council and other relevant agencies. During that effort, over 100 vehicles were cleared from Male’s streets.
The initiative aims to create safer and more navigable streets for residents and visitors alike.
