Gov’t Collects MVR 4.5 Million in Fitr Zakat During Initial 20 Days of Ramadan

Maldives Zakat House has disclosed that a substantial sum of MVR 4.5 million (equivalent to over USD 290,000) has been received as Fitr Zakat during the initial twenty days of this Ramadan period.

According to data released by Maldives Zakat House yesterday, a total of MVR 4,499,433 (USD 291,182.47) had been amassed by the 20th day of Ramadan.

The acceptance of Fitr Zakat commenced on March 11, with Maldives Zakat House reporting an intake of MVR 1.6 million (over USD 103,000) within the first ten days of Ramadan.

Individuals can continue to make Fitr Zakat payments online until the upcoming Saturday. Additionally, payments can be facilitated via Bandeyri Pay up to the final day of Ramadan.

For those preferring in-person payments, arrangements have been established at the Islamic Centre hall, operating daily except Fridays, from 11:00 hrs to 14:00 hrs.

Furthermore, Island Councils across the Maldives are equipped to receive Zakat payments.

Individuals wishing to contribute Zakat in staple goods have until the conclusion of next Tuesday to do so. Such donations will be accepted at Aminiya School hall on weekdays from 13:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs. On the final Tuesday, these hours will be extended from 13:00 hrs to 18:00 hrs.
