The ministry stated that Khaleel emphasised that a just and lasting resolution requires the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He also raised concerns over Israel’s continued ceasefire violations and condemned calls for the displacement of Palestinians. He urged the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid and called for a permanent ceasefire.

Additionally, Khaleel expressed Maldives’ firm support for the Gaza reconstruction plan adopted during the Arab League Summit.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which comprises 57 member states, remains a strong advocate for Palestinian statehood. The Maldives has been an active member of the OIC since joining in 1976.
