Gov’t Condemns Israeli Minister’s Storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque

The Government of Maldives issued a statement yesterday condemning the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by the Israeli Minister of National Security under the protection of occupying forces Israel.

The statement stressed that the repeated attempts to alter Al-Aqsa’s religious and historical status that can be considered provocative are grave violations of international law and an attack on the rights of Palestinian people and over two billion Muslims around the world.

The Maldives reiterated its calls on the international community to take immediate and decisive action to prevent further acts of aggression against religious sites and to ensure respect for international law and human rights. 

The Government of Maldives further stressed that a lasting peaceful solution to the conflict could only be possible through the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its Capital.
